10 YEARS OF NEW IRISH TRAD

Cara (gaelic for 'friend') are a multi-national band, bringing together musicians from Ireland, Scotland and Germany to produce their distinctive sound. Their music is firmly rooted in the Irish and Scottish tradition yet their innovative arrangements set them apart and make them instantly recognizable. Their own exciting compositions have received wide critical acclaim.

Fronted by two female lead singers, a trademark of the band, CARA combine their mastery of vocals, uilleann pipes, fiddle, flute, piano, guitar, bodhrán and accordion with a dry-witted and entertaining stage presence. Their unique mix of songs and tunes unites hard-core trad fans with acoustic-pop listeners and in the end they all end up dancing and singing together.

CARA got presented with two Irish Music Awards, 'Best New Irish Artist' in January 2010 and the prestigious award for 'Top Group' in January 2011. They have performed and headlined at some of the biggest festivals for Irish Music, i.e. Milwaukee Irish Fest, Kansas City Irish Fest, ICONS Boston, Nuits Celtiques, Bardentreffen and many more. They have dazzled audiences throughout the USA, Germany, Ireland, England, France, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark, who celebrate their music with standing ovations wherever they go.

"One of the hottest irish music bands on the international circuit. Cara have joined the ranks of Solas, Dervish and Altan, big tunes, big ideas und superb playing."  Seán Laffey, Irish Music Magazine

Beoga (gaelic for 'lively') are based in County Antrim, in the north of Ireland. The bedrock of their sound lies firmly within the Irish tradition. However, they are not afraid to incorporate other genres' nuances into their music. From bluesy riffs to Astor Piazzola-style jazz, to a raunchy New Orleans jamboree vibe, their music always returns to a wonderfully bouncy Irish sound. The result is traditional, with a huge sense of fun and adventure and it all works - wonderfully well.

Major Celtic and Folk festival highlights have included Boston ICONS festival, Kansas City, Milwaukee Irish Fest, Tonder, Dranouter, Temple Bar Trad Fest, Germany's Irish Folk Festival tour, Cambridge Folk Festival, the National Celtic Festival, Australia and Glasgow's Celtic Connections.

In September 2007, Beoga performed live with the BBC Orchestra to a television audience of millions as part of the prestigious 'Last night of the Proms'. In 2009, at Houston International Festival, Congresswoman Jackson Lee presented Beoga with a Congressional Recognition Certificate from the US House of Representatives.

Beoga are confirming their reputation as the most audacious Irish band rooted in trad today and the newest album 'how to tune a fish' is attracting fresh superlatives. The album ranked #1 traditional album of 2011 in the esteemed Irish Echo in the USA. With their unique blend of inventive arrangements, virtuosi instrumental talents and beautiful vocals, Beoga's popularity continues to flourish as they captivate audiences on a global scale.

" The best traditional band to emerge from Ireland this century"  Wall Street Journal
